Cathie Thompson
Available Work

Cathie Thompson grew up on a farm in Eastern Kansas.  Later she and her husband raised their children on his family's ranch, at the edge of the Flint Hills, in Wabaunsee County, Kansas. A lot of her inspiration comes from scenes of the land in Wabaunsee County that her husband and she still own. Cathie and her husband now reside in Lenexa, KS.

Living in rural Kansas for most of her life, has given Cathie a great appreciation for the outdoors and nature.  She enjoys painting outside whenever possible. Most of her early art training, and love of art, came from her mother, Jo Flager. Cathie has taken workshops with several well-known artists, and participates in Plein Air events whenever possible. She enjoys painting a variety of subjects, but gravitates back to the Flint Hills and other rural scenes, both in the studio, and in Plein Air. Most of her work is done in acrylic and oil, and occasionally watercolor.

Cathie's art has been juried into numerous art shows, including multiple years to the Symphony in the Flint Hills, and Visions of the Flint Hills art shows.

Cathie is a member of The Missouri Valley Impressionist Society and an associate member of the National Oil and Acrylic Society.
