Life Framed in Art and Community:
Jason Fewin’s Story
Jason’s love of making things began early. From Lego creations in kindergarten to sketching comic book heroes, he was always building and imagining. Visits to the Nelson-Atkins Museum opened his eyes to fine art, and by high school, he was adding woodworking to his skillset. After graduating from Park Hill High School in 1992, Jason started in business administration at Missouri Western State College before switching to fine art and transferring to Park University, graduating in 1999.
Over the years, his hands have worked with everything from pencil to paint to fused glass - a medium he discovered while decorating restaurants. Today, when he finds the time, he still creates sculptures, bowls, and jewelry in glass. And for the kid in him that never grew up, his gallery even carries high-end Star Wars collectibles from Sideshow Collectibles.

Design of the Month
As a small frame shop and art gallery in the Midwest, we probably see a mix of objects similar to what most other shops are seeing on any given day. However, another of our goals is to offer our customers a variety of pre-framed, museum-grade giclée prints framed with what we consider to be styles that are “correct” for the associated artwork.

Behind the Craft: Meet the Missouri Artist Illuminating Our Gallery
At Parkville Frame Gallery, we’re deeply committed to championing local artists whose creativity, craftsmanship, and vision enrich our community. In our ongoing “Behind the Brush” series, we shine a light on those whose work transforms our space and inspires every visitor.
Today, we’re honored to introduce Susan Breen Silvy, a Kansas City–area gem whose mastery in metal clay, lampwork glass, and bead art brings both sophistication and warmth to The Fusion exhibition.

Art To Live With
Georges Seurat (1859-1891) was a French painter and founder of the 19th-century French school of neo-impressionism. His technique for portraying the play of light using tiny brushstrokes and small dots of contrasting colors became known as Pointillism. From a distance the tiny brushstrokes and dots blend together visually.

Triptych Showcases Framing Prowess
The Parkville Frame Gallery is located in Parkville, MO, just minutes north of Kansas City. As a mid-size gallery in a sports-oriented town, we see a lot of Patrick Mahomes football jerseys. We also see items that are less predictable. For example, we have framed a mother-of-pearl carving of The Last Supper, an original document signed by French King Louis XIV dated 1683. We consistently challenge ourselves to come up with new ideas and new projects.
